Oof, so, let's just jump into it.
The beginning was a solid start. Our girl gets scammed unknowingly when she buys an office for her therapy practice and only finds out when the actual owner of said office walks into it at night and finds her there threatening to call the police on him.
Things took a nice turn when he helped her out with a warrant she didn't know existed, and he bargins with the prosecuting lawyer to get the charge reduced.
Here's where I was like, eh, he bargains a date/hookup with the female lawyer he had previously been intimate with. The author had the opportunity to play on that. Maybe our m.c. goes into town and sees her new friend on said date and asks him about it later on? Open the door a bit. Instead, it's just glossed over entirely. Then we have a love triangle essentially, and that's never really played on much. Like our 3rd party gets more involved the more he sees our girl getting closer to the new love interest but other than dinner that he cancels on or flowers sent to her, theres really no escalation that could have been enticing to read on. It was all a bit rushed for a male character broken from a past relationship and left me wanting even by the end of it.
