This book is so over the top, it's bordering on pulpy. On the other hand, it's read by Julia Whelan so it sounds so classy.
The epigraph is made me think it's a story about closing the gap between the rich and the poor using understanding and love, which would've sucked. Fear not, my fellow petty reader, there is plenty of hate here.
I hated every moment of Vanessa's narrative, and hated her in general. Nina's story was much better but she has the "I got here first" benefit on her side so I can't draw a fair comparison.
I enjoyed this book and finished it much faster than I thought I would.
