This was honestly one of the best romantic comedies I have read in a while. I loved this book!! It was the change of pace I needed and I really enjoyed it.
I loved how the storyline started unusually with the defeat of the Vile One (a big turning point) and with the start of the reign of King Arek although it all happened very clumsily.
I honestly did not know I needed a fantasy romcom this bad and I already love everything with magic in it so this was definitely an EASY and FUN READ.
And the love dynamics in this book were full of twists and I loved all of the representation!! And although it was a slow-burn romance for the main couple I enjoyed it and never once felt that it was being pulled too much. It was honestly such good-paced that I didn't even realize how fast the book was done. I wanted MORE!!!
The entire time I was grinning at their aloofness and realness cuz this entire empire was really being run by a couple of teenagers. I loved how this group of friends, although joined by a prophecy, became a family in the end.
Talking about the characters a bit... Matt, Arek's best friend/ mage, I loved from the beginning. His and Arek's bickering moments are my fav and their chemistry just flows soo easily that EVERYONE else around them can see it BUT THEM. Then comes Bethany, the group's bard, Sionna, a fearless fighter, Rion a knight with a heart of gold, and Lila whose mysterious past makes for some entertaining mystery moments.
