I put off reading this book for so long because I was so intimidated by its size. 700 pages is truly a commitment. With that being said, I figured why not make it my first read of 2024 and just get it over with. (I’m late to the game. I know.)
Let me just say that I love the world that SJM has created and I am totally invested in these characters like I actually know them. I love how each character has a detailed background. It really makes you feel for them. I felt every emotion right along with the characters. Laughter. Shock. Sadness. Everything.
The war was obviously the main focus of this book but, because of that, it was so fast paced and made me want to keep reading just to see if the characters made it out okay!
I know the second book is a lot of people’s favorites but I think this one is it for me. I read this in a week which is really saying something for someone who has 2 jobs and works 12+ hours everyday.
SJM’s writing is spot on and is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
