The Dallergut Dream Department Store
by Miye Lee
A whimsical story that follows Penny through her budding career manning the front desk at a Dream Store. I found it really interesting although sometimes the world building was lacking in some places (eg. How is there some people who work in a dream world and others who live in the real world?). I liked how there was insight in how different dreams could influence and help people navigate difficult situations. I feel like it’s an interesting take on dreams and how dreaming works. At times the characters felt a bit one dimensional, the relationships they had with each other were very superficial and didn’t really go anywhere interesting. Clearly the focus was on exploring the impact of dreams and the idea of providing dreams to people but I think that shouldn’t have been at the cost of good characters.
