๐Ÿ’ญ The Reaper is the second instalment in the Dark Verse series and the last instalment focusing on the point-of-view of Morana and Tristan.
The follow-up to The Predator starts right where we left Morana and Tristan. Now they are on a mission to find out what happened to the codes and the mystery surrounding the missing girls while surrounded by enemies and figuring out how their relationship will work in this volatile world of crime.
The sequel to The Predator has continued to deliver on the expectations set from book one. Everything that you experience in book one? Expect more. More thrill. More tension. More pain. More stakes. More heat.
The action and the plot in this book amped up and once again there was still a lot of repetition when it came to whiskey and sin but, thankfully, his blue eyes were mentioned a little less and they didn't just stare at each other most of the time but there was a lot of internal monologuing by the heroine (no choice here, it's in her POV after all).
However, when a book has such a gripping and captivating storyline, it becomes easier to overlook those repetitions.

Tristan is way too silent for my liking for more than half of the book like hardly a few sentences!! The second half does improve a bit with more than fewer sentences from Tristan.
I absolutely adore Tristan. His character growth in this book was truly remarkable, delivering everything I had hoped for. He's a captivating blend of lethal, intimidating, and scary, yet he's equally tender, caring, and fiercely protective when it comes to Morana. In short, he embodies everything I desire and everything I need in a character๐Ÿฅฐ. I loved how we got so much more information about Tristan in this book(like he has a fucking dimple๐Ÿซ ), he became a real person instead of just an idea and it was really well done(If we have this book from his POVs as well then this book would have been chef's kiss).
So glad to see more TristanDante scenes and how they had each otherโ€™s backs their entire lives. Their bromance was everything!!

Morana continues to be a total badass in this story, and her interactions with Lorenzo Maroni filled my heart with glee!  Further, just like in the previous book, I cherished Morana's bond with Dante and her friendship with Amara. Finally, she found people who genuinely cared about her and for whom she truly mattered. There are a lot of suspenseful scenes with Morana fighting for her life and Dante and Tristan either coming to her aid or helping her out after.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster, filled with so many heartfelt scenes. And the bond between Tristan and Morana was truly special. They are now a couple and fight the fact throughout the story and I loved the way they got together as a couple, found their missing pieces in each other and aligned themselves to each other without changing their individuality. It's beautiful to see how they were always there for each other, even in their own quiet and subtle ways. Those moments of support and understanding really tug at my heartstrings. It's one of the things that makes this book so memorable and touching. It's incredible how Tristan and Morana have this deep connection where they can understand each other just by looking into each other's eyes. It's like they have their own secret language, communicating volumes without uttering a single word. Those unspoken conversations can be so powerful and intimate, creating a bond that goes beyond words. His relationship with Morana was so sweet and so many times I was saying awwww out loud! The way Morana just knows what he can and can't give and accepts him completely is really beautiful. It's truly magical to witness such a profound connection between characters.

My favorite part was the EPILOGUE(No Spoilers - You will love it and those who have already read it know what I am talking about!!)

Overall, some answers are found, but Tristanโ€™s sister is still in the wind. The code theft is resolved almost as an afterthought, but the thief is a big player in Moranaโ€™s life. The ending was amazing! The Reaper's revelation was so damn good! I think reading all the books is a must because there are a lot of things that are left unanswered! IT'S DEFINITELY NOT STANDALONE.

๐.๐’  Dante was also a huge standout in this book. I seriously can't wait for the next book because I need more of him and Amara. Since Tristan has a whiskey and sin voice I wonder what type of voice Dante will have๐Ÿ˜

๐.๐’.๐’ I  must also say that the 4โœฐ stars are subjective, I think that objectively and If I was trying to be more critical, I would be mentioning a lot more flaws and the book may deserve 3.5 or 3 โœฐ, but I had such a good time and I completed it in a day So, fuck it and 4โœฐ stars for this book.

โ€œYou might have been born with another name but you are Morana. My Morana. Youโ€™re the girl I killed for and youโ€™re the woman Iโ€™d die for. You are mine and you are exactly where youโ€™re supposed to be. Donโ€™t ever question that again, do you understand?โ€

โ€œHe wanted to tell her that love was too tame a word for everything that happened inside him where she was concerned. She had shifted him, realigned him from the inside out. Like a planet that suddenly pulls a moon into its orbit, she had bound him to her, given him direction for longer than she knew, and gave him a purpose to exist.
She was his gravity, his fucking planet, and he was lost without her.โ€

โ€œIf you burned as I burn with the need to claim you. That I wasnโ€™t alone in the fire.โ€

โ€œHis demons dance with mine,โ€

โ€œYou are exactly where you were supposed to be,โ€ he told her, his voice leaving no room for doubts. โ€œI know exactly who you are.โ€ โ€œWho am I?โ€ โ€œMine.โ€

โ€œNever again,โ€ he whispered, his voice rough with an edge of the wildness sheโ€™d seen in his eyes. It sent a delicious shiver down her spine.
โ€œThey will die a thousand deaths,โ€ he murmured, almost gently as his thumb traced the line of her jaw, โ€œbefore they ever touch a single hair on your head again.โ€
And then, with that deathly vow still echoing in her heart, he pressed his lips to her fluttering pulse.
โ€œI promise,โ€ his lips wrote against her skin.โ€

โ€œWhat I am is a woman who has been freed from the shackles men like you had bound me to. What I am is a woman who knows that freedom thanks to two good men who've made me believe again.โ€

โ€œNow, listen to me and listen hard,โ€ Tristan uttered, shaking her fatherโ€™s jaw for emphasis. โ€œSheโ€™s under my protection. Mine. Nobody hurts her. Nobody talks shit about her. Not me, not you, not anyone. Next time I hear you call her anything less than the woman she is, I will cut your tongue out and feed it to your dogs. Next time I see you anywhere close to her, I will kill you. Stay. The. Fuck. Away. From. Her. Do you understand?โ€
Her father nodded.
Tristan nodded. โ€œGood. And anytime you forget that, just remember how I killed my father when I was a boy for her. And think on and think of the people I can kill now that I am a man to keep her safe.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m the smartest of them. I claimed you long before any of them had a chance.

โ€œDonโ€™t play these juvenile games with me, Tristan. I will cut you open and eat you alive.โ€

โ€œBrushing her thumb over the line of his jaw, feeling the scruff rasping against it, she vowed, repeating his own words. โ€œNever again. Youโ€™ll never be alone again. No matter how bad the nightmare gets, Iโ€™m going to be right here.โ€

โ€œInhaling deeply, she continued. โ€œI just, I really like you Tristan Caine, as messed up as you are.โ€ One of his hands settled on her hips, the other coming up to her neck. โ€œMy loyalty is not a luxury for you, Morana. Itโ€™s a gift and itโ€™s yours. You never have to walk into a room and question that.โ€

โ€œYou,โ€ she whispered to the space between them, โ€œTristan Caine, are a beautiful, beautiful man. And my heart beats for you.โ€

โ€œShe had bled and he had licked her wounds clean. She had almost tasted death and he had breathed life back into her. And she realized sheโ€™d never, not once in her life, felt safer. For the first time in her life, she felt at home.โ€
