I have some confusing feelings about this book.
First of, I enjoyed reading it so much. Alice’s writing style is perfect for me and makes it so easy to immerse myself into her worlds. The characters were so alive and beautiful. Even now after finishing the book I want to keep reading about them. I can never stop wanting to learn more about Alice’s characters. But for this one I especially crave to have gotten a better look at the side characters. I want a sequel from Lister’s perspective and see everything that has been going on with him, things that Jimmy didn’t notice and I therefore never got to see in this novel.
The thing is, the basic plot basically is a bad Wattpad y/n fanfiction. It made a bit uncomfortable at times, not gonna lie.
But it also was a thorough view at fandom culture and becoming famous at a young age. It showed the beautiful and the ugly about being a fan. I certainly saw aspects of Angel being a fan in myself, me having been heavily involved in fandom since I was 12. Especially my younger fan self was in there.
I basically got out of this book wanting to befriend all the characters and give them a big hug.
