Meant for Gabriel by Natasha Madison
3.0

This book was sort of "meh" for me - but maybe also because I got sucked into the BookTok/IG reviews and got too excited.

So the first half of the book is pretty good & moves at a fast clip. Her fiance does horrible things, she takes a break and wanders into the country. Decides to party it up, meets Gabriel the bartender, very sexy things happen & then she sneaks out. As luck would have it, Gabriel ends up being part of her family (don't worry, only through marriage. It's not one of THOSE kinds of books) - and try as they might, clothes keep falling off when they're in each other's proximity. So far, so good.

Second half of the book is where my beef starts. Everything moves fast, a lot of details are just fluffed over and I was struggling to remember who is who because it feels like an entire army of people are emerging from the woodworks. You know when the author seeds a bunch of characters that will sprout for a dynasty of novels - well, we might be covered for a few centuries with the number of people hanging around. Except I kept losing track and had to back track to remember who was whom & what their role was in the story. For me, it lost some steam in the backend and so I liked it but didn't love it....
