ngl i’m not sure exactly why this book has such high ratings. sylvia’s dismissals of adam’s abusive behaviors the entire book were infuriating. the prose felt juvenile, and i was so frustrated the entire time. the only reason i’m not giving it only 1 star is because i admit - i couldn’t put it down. so good job there, i did want to know what happened.

the double— no, triple?? plot twist at the end was definitely exciting, but also it felt like a bit much. it WORKED, but it just… i didn’t have time to recover from the BAM victoria’s the “crazy” one to BAM hahA PSYCH IT REALLY IS ADAM, WHO KNEW?? i just barely processed adam going to jail and then wow maggie’s in on it too?

i do wanna commend the author for sneaking the maggie thing in, though. i’m a lil ashamed i didn’t catch on sooner, but the second she delivered the first twist i was suspicious. but it made sense.

ok i was ragging on this book a second ago but i do have to praise one more thing: i do like how the author made the first twist feel… unbelievable. like, details didn’t line up. i.e, if mack didn’t exist, who did adam base his character “jack” on? things like that. so when the second twist was revealed and things fell back into place, that was good.

the pacing was very fast, i was incredibly annoyed with sylvia the entire time, i feel hella bad for victoria, and at least adam’s in prison.

not a fan of this book, definitely not a recommendation. there were absolutely things i enjoyed (listed above) but i am so UNBELIEVABLY angry at sylvia’s “oh he’s abusive?? i like that because it means mr perfect has flaws too hehe <3” SHUT UPPPPPPPPP please for the love of GOD
