My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante

4.0

Highly recommended for anyone who loves Greta Gerwig’s movies about the female experience. Ferrante writes about emotions that I’ve felt very deeply but had never before seen in writing. It works as both a compelling coming-of-age story of two friends but I will also be going down a Reddit hole to explore more of the symbolism. While I don’t agree with the NYT that it’s the #1 best book of the 21st century, it’s definitely in the top 50.
