Do you need an easy fast paced read? This is great for that. It has a straightforward plot but it's done well and there is a lot of action and humour. Some aspects were reminiscent of a heist movie as far as the way the main character assembles his team to pull of a particular mission.
It's military sci-fi but in my opinion doesn't particularly glorify or demonize the military, so depending on what you prefer that might be either a relief or a point against it. It's just the main feature of the setting. The whole point of the book is the characters and there is a good range of them.
It never slows down and was a fun satisfying read. The main guy is a great roguish character.
