Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances
by John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle
Sometimes teen fiction transfers really well for adult readers. This is not one of those occasions.
The 3 stories by 3 different authors is an interesting idea, but the execution is off. The links that bring the stories together are weak and could have been incorporated in a much more intelligent way.
The stakes throughout are so low that it verges on making it quite a boring read. The first story (Johnson) is the pick of the bunch, with the characters being more likable and relatable than the others. The second (Green) contains an unlikable cohort which are tough to root for, but the ending is somewhat satisfying. The final story (Myracle) is tough to read, knowing that the protagonist is toxic and will get their 'happy ending'.
Finally, the language in this book has aged very poorly given its only 15 years old, with both Green & Myracle using terms and stereotypes which now feel, at best, out dated.
I'll end by saying it is at least an easy read, and I am not the target audience (teen girls may find more appeal!), but it's still only getting 2.5/5 from me.
