A Fox in the Fold by Candace Robb

5.0

I won this book on Goodreads. I read it on my Kindle as my nighttime-before-bed book so it took me longer than it would have if I'd read it in the day. It is an intricate mystery and I've enjoyed the series before, so I was very happy to win this.
I've missed quite a bit as I don't read very many series in order and it's been a while since my last time with the characters, but I don't feel like it hindered my enjoyment of the story and mystery. I quickly became engaged with the new to me characters and reacquainted with the ones I knew.
The story is intricate and there several characters to keep track of. I like historical mysteries so I knew to expect a bit of confusion. I seem to have a filter in my cranium that lets that flow over me and keep to the story at hand. There are suspicious deaths, political intrigue, thefts, obfuscations...just as I like mysteries that keep me engaged.
Character growth is also key and there is quite a bit of that within Owen and his family. Learning to see past transgressions and acknowledging repercussions from actions are some of the examples.
I can definitely recommend this book, series and author.
