Moose Baby by Meg Rosoff

4.0

Meg Rosoff was an author whose weird surreal stories defined so much of my teenage years. Moose Baby (or Vamoose, as it is sometimes known) is another weird one, but it was also one I missed at the time.

Revisiting Rosoff’s writing made me really nostalgic, and I just love how she can make you care about anyone or anything - even a teenage girl who has inexplicably given birth to a moose. I was partly reading this story thinking “this is absurd” but also partly hoping that it would all work out for everyone in the end.
