A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

4.25

1st read: September 2023
2nd read: March 2025

I‘ve been wanting to do a reread of this series for such a long time since this was my second fantasy book I‘ve ever read after fourth wing and it felt incredibly good and nostalgic!!

I did rate this book 3.5 stars when I first read it and I‘m now upping it. I still agree with the fact that it is incredibly slow until the last like 100 pages and your love for this series really does only start with the following books.
Still I really enjoyed my reread and was able to make connections that I couldn‘t make last time. To be totally honest, Tamlin isn‘t even bad in this book now that I‘ve read it again 💀 I actually felt sorry for him at times lol.

I’m really excited to also see Lucien’s character development. I didn’t really connect to Feyre and Rhysand or them together when I last read this series and I feel like I’m definitely connecting more to her/them now and I’m really excited to see their love story evolve. Their tension is just chef’s kiss and Rhysand? Oh, you are one hot man.

You guys, why the hell do I picture the Attor like Watto from Star Wars???? 😭😭😭😭 I‘m cackling every time he comes up

Quotes

“My sister didn‘t smile, but a light shone in her blue-gray eyes. „Tell me everything that happened,“ she said - an order, not a request. So I did. And when I finished my story, Nesta merely stared at me for a long while before asking me to teach her how to paint.“

“There are days when I want to ask him if he remembers the years he almost let us starve to death. I knew you could always get us more copper. And if you couldn’t, then I wanted to see if he would ever try to do it himself, instead of carving those bits of wood. If he would actually go out and fight for us. i couldn‘t take care of us, not the way you did. I hated you for that. But I hated him more. I still do.“

And I dared say that some kind of light had crept into my eyes - my eyes, not my mother‘s eyes or Nesta‘s eyes. Mine.

“And I‘ll remember precisely where my hands have been. But if anyone else touches you - let‘s say a certain High Lord who enjoys springtime - I‘ll know. And, Feyre, I don‘t like my belongings tampered with.“
