You Better Be Lightning by Andrea Gibson

Andrea Gibson is one of my absolute favorite poets, writers, and humans. I have attended their shows multiple times and done poetry workshops with them and Meg and I just value them and their presence in this world so so much. You Better Be Lightning was as incredible as I expected it to be. So many of their poems speak directly to my heart and soul, I know that sounds cheesy but it's true. They also speak about gender in the most relatable and affirming way. My Gender Is The Undoing Of Gender felt like something I could've written myself. They write about the way someone they loved experienced the death of their Idol Prince and so much of it is how I feel about Andrea. This world will be a darker place when they are no longer with us. I am rooting so hard for their future because they are such a vital voice for so many of us. This book was beautiful and heart breaking and heart filling and so much more!
