Yeah this wasn't my fav of Abby's books. I found it awfully heavy/sad, and while there were moments I laughed especially towards the end of the book they were fewer and farther between.
I also don't know how I feel about the ending.Like idk what I wanted to happen but him just leaving his business to move to California seemed like an easy ending? Idk it's not my fav when problems in books are just easily resolved and the solution is just why didn't they do that the whole time?
I do think it's still a very important story - caretaking is a good thing to highlight. One of my all time favorite romances is The Heart Principle which has similar themes. But I think the combination of long distance relationship in this on top of everything else made it a tougher read for me.
The juxtaposition of her mother losing her memory against the MCs trying to build new memories together is bittersweet. That concept is so beautiful: the importance of memories, and how it's the little things that build a life. But I am left feeling rather melancholy...
