Fables, Vol. 19: Snow White by Bill Willingham

3.0

I must admit, I was quite disappointed with this one. It seems the series has started to suffer from lack of direction, with the big bad being dispatched, and now resorting to big plot twists and all powerful bad guys springing out of nowhere to create enough plot to keep going.

In this one, Snow's former betrothed reappears and claims he is her rightful husband, despite the fact they were betrothed when she was just a child and the marriage was not consummated. None of the other characters can do much to stop him, and he locks Snow up in a tower and is a hateful sexist, abusive bully, threatening to rape Snow and kill her husband and children. It's awful, and I hated reading it, it made me so uncomfortable.

Overall, it was still an okay read. I still like the artwork, and the ending broke my heart, and I did like seeing what happened to Bufkin and Lily.
