What a powerful book with serious topics. If you have triggers refer to the warnings before reading, they are heavy and descriptive.
The emotion behind this book is very intense. I had to sit with my feeling when I finished to truly grasp the power this storyline had! The trauma bond that brings Gabriel and Cecilia together is so strong and feels very real and vulnerability on full display.
Gabriel was that kind of MC you want for yourself or your daughter. He is protective, never giving up on her or for her peace. Which is incredible with everything he’s been through with his own family trauma.
This book has dark moments, authenticity and real moments, and focuses a lot on mental health. I love the found family aspect too.
The book ends on a cliffhanger and in some ways, I felt the resolution wasn’t complete and with topics as heavy as the ones outlined in this book, I wish there was more.
