4.5/5
I expected a lot from this. I love a good queer lawman romance, Aussie slang, single parents with kids that act like kids, broody dudes, Lisa Henry, etc. Would have been 5/5 except for one small but very important detail:A HEA is assumed but no "I love yous" exchanged between the men. However, in the epilogue Jason tells Gio that he will always love his wife.

Graphic: Blood, Gun violence, and Medical trauma
Moderate: Car accident, Bullying, Death, and Domestic abuse
Car Accident (Moderate): the officers deal with a DOA crash during a flood, semi-graphic description of the death; Bullying (Moderate): Gio faces serious verbal and sometimes physical bullying from his former "friends"/workmates for reporting his ex; Domestic Abuse (Moderate): A major theme in the book, the guys deal with two major cases in town and reference is made to Gio's experience with his ex, not a graphic depiction but frequent; Medical Trauma/Blood (Graphic): Jason is shot in the chest and there is a lot of blood ; Death (Moderate): on page death of a criminal, off page death of Jason's wife
