Rapunzel and the Lost Lagoon by Leila Howland
3.0

Tangled is my favorite movie. Tangled the Series is just as awesome. So, I’m going to read anything that comes from them. This book is pretty good for a children’s show tie-in book. It gives you a peek into what happened off screen in both the movie and show. This book alternates POV between Rapunzel and Cassandra. I’m never really fond of POV switches...unless they are done with extraordinary care. I didn’t expect a companion book for a tv cartoon to be one of those situations, so I wasn’t surprised I didn’t love it. I definitely preferred the Rapunzel POVs. Also, at times, it almost felt a little fan fiction-y. I’ve never looked for TtS fanfic, but I’m willing to bet a lot of it features Rapunzel and Cassandra as not just friends. And this book frequently had me questioning whether that was the implication. (This absolutely could have been in my head. In fact, I doubt kids would read into it like that.) The story is light and it’s a quick read. (When you actually read. I know it took me a while, but only because I put it down a lot.)
