Tombs: Junji Ito Story Collection
by Junji Ito
As with any short story collection, there's some winners and some duds. But overall a very enjoyable experience once again. :)
TOMBS: 5/5
CLUBHOUSE: 4/5
SLUG GIRL: 3/5
THE WINDOW NEXT DOOR: 2/5
WASHED ASHORE: 4/5
THE STRANGE TALE OF THE TUNNEL: 5/5
BRONZE STATUE: 3/5
FLOATERS: 5/5
THE BLOODY STORY OF SHIROSUNA: 4/5
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love (Junji Ito's) concept horror: cool ideas and interesting images that stick with you after you close the book. I feel like this collection scratched my itch quite well! Tombs, Floaters, Shirosuna and the tale of the tunnel were all excellent in that regard.
I didn't love The Window Next Door because it was just another tale about an ugly old woman and... I just don't find ugly women creepy? Where my ugly old men at, Junji Ito - give us terrifying men, I know you got it in ya somewhere, I believe in you.
