Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett

This was a really great contemporary! I think I enjoyed it a bit more than Alex, Approximately overall. The theme of this book - camping, hiking, wilderness survival - seemed so much more new and interesting and adventurous than the theme of her older book (which, while something I will always like, is not anything new in YA). I really liked the characters, the romance was this interesting mix of friends to lovers to enemies to lovers (yeah I know...) and I was really digging it. This book is also (just like her previous work) sex positive and isn't afraid to discuss the topic. Lennon was an amazing love interest - sort of emo, sort of hardrock, sort of nerd and wilderness survivalist. He has two moms who own a sex toy shop. I also liked the MC's step mom. But overall the story mostly focused on the two of them. I don't know why but I think I might've felt like the first half was a bit more promising because one of the very few things I was missing in the second half were some likeable occuring side characters, and it was mostly the MC and the love interest. That didn't stop the book from having an interesting side characters nonetheless.
SpoilerAlso, the whole enemies thing between the two of them started with stupid misunserstanding that could've been easily solved by... comminication. But the again, there would've been no book if they just talked after the prom so I can forgive it for that.

Overall: Andventures in wilderness, hiking, camping, great romance, likeable characters, family - and other - disasters.
