See What You Made Me Do: Power, Control and Domestic Abuse by Jess Hill

This is an incredibly difficult book to read. Jess Hill provides an in-depth and meticulous examination of Australia's domestic abuse problem. The contents is harrowing and enraging, but the research is clearly set out, and easy to understand. The stories of those who have suffered from domestic abuse are centred through-out with honesty and compassion. I found her chapter on shame to be an incredibly compelling answer to the question of why men hurt, and sometimes kill, women they claim to love. See What You Made Me Do clearly demonstrates the failings of Australia in addressing the issues surrounding domestic abuse, and preventing domestic homicide and also offers some ways forward.
