A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood
3.5

Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Voyeuristic, reflective, yearning and restrained. It’s always nice to read gay literature, especially with it being such a taboo at the time it was published. I didn’t really warm to the main character but I understood him and felt for him. Perhaps I would have warmed to him more if it was a longer novel, but then I don’t think the story would have represented what it does as a whole, in that case.
