This book was just...not great. It was rushed and it felt inorganic. In typical enemies to lovers, if they are having feelings by the 3rd chapter, I lose interest. They're *enemies* so it would take a while to build up feelings. Also, if a conflict can be easily solved by having a simple conversation, it's poor writing. I'm sorry. There were so many deeper-rooted issues that could've been brought up in a more nuanced way but nobody talked about anything. And when they did, they would immediately retreat for the sake of conflict. I, my friends, think this could've been so much better!

I liked Desai's other book enough to read this one. Funnily enough, it didn't click that the other book was a sequel and the two female protagonists were cousins. I deadass thought Desai couldn't think of any other Indian names besides Patel.

Regarding the Indian American representation. I love it. I really do but I'll admit it felt gimmicky quite a lot of the time. This could've been alleviated by freshening up the dialogue. But it felt like an Indian American book made for Americans. I get it - wider audience and all. But still.

I laughed so hard when she removed her shirt and bra and says "come and get them". That was literally the funniest thing I have read in a long time.
