Did not finish book. Stopped at 42%.

I really liked the beginning and I loved the relationship between the mermaid and the plague doctor but I lost interest around the halfway mark because of the unnecessarily large vocabulary :( I just skimmed to the end because it felt like a chore to finish. I think I might pick it up again at some point because I did find the relationship between the main characters enjoyable. I’m also not a super huge fan of cult stories, but the relationship was sweet enough to look past this
