I had to get used to Toni Morrison’s writing style, but once I did, I found the book to be thoroughly engaging.   The story of Sethe is a heart-wrenching one from the time she is born.  Knowing that this story was based upon an enslaved woman who was able to flee while pregnant was another layer to this story.  I definitely will reread this one because I can tell there are so many layers to this book. I wholeheartedly recommend this book as a way to get a glimpse into the lives of the enslaved Black folks in the United States.
