A Werewolf's Guide To Seducing a Vampire
by Sarah Hawley
First and foremost, I loved all the covers for the books in this series. They’re very collectible. I sort of got the impression this would be the last book in the series, although it was left open enough for more books and no one explicitly said there would be no more. I’m loving Hawley’s humor and writing style, and eager to see her future books, whether for this series or any other.
Favorite character: Ben. I really resonated with his character and his anxieties, especially as someone with CPTSD. it was nice to see a sensitive male love interest as well, and all the discussion of consent and free will.
I also loved seeing Tansy again, even though it was just a little cameo. And I really wish we got a story about Kai and Lilith.
Quotes:
“A negotiation was just a sword fight that hadn’t started yet.”
“I like all facts.”
“What’s the point of immortality if you only eat safe things?”
“Maybe that can be your next campaign after revitalizing the Glimmer Falls theater scene. Equal access to floral arrangements.”
“Eleonore was a vampire succubus of action for better or worse.”
“Cars could be cleaned and seats could be reupholstered; getting to soap down a succubus was a muchrarer experience.”
“You’re perfect if I say you’re perfect. I love you just the way you are.”
Hawley also is conscious of her nods to other media: her reference to Ella’s Enchanted and the replica of the Thor “another!” scene are clear examples of that.
I laughed so many times reading this book that my wife heard a LOT of quotes out of context. But I also was crying in a public space on a college campus reading this. Highly recommend.
