Bane by L.J. Shen

5.0

Bane is the fourth book in the Sinners of Saint series but Bane’s story is a spinoff.
"I wanted her before.
Before she became business.
Before the truth caged her in.
Before the secrets gushed out. "
This story starts when Roman (Bane) Protsenko, a Russian immigrant and a surfer has a talk with Vicious to get him invest into his new project about a surf city. Vicious leads him to Jesse Carter's step father Darren who asks Bane to do him a favor in exchange of the investment in his project.
Bane has to bring Jesse out of her she'll and make her start working on a job so that she could make friends.
Jesse was so lonely and broken because of a past incident that was so traumatic, her feelings in the first few chapters about her past made me cry my heart out. She had such a shitty mother and a step father who was mysterious and seemed to hide a lot of things. Despite that she was so much likeable and full of personality when Bane finally managed to get her out of feeling nothing.
"Everyone in town heard a version or two of my story.
I was the town’s slut. Jezebel.
The whore of Babylon.
I’d asked for it, so they’d given it to me.
I don’t date.
I don’t do boys.
I’m The Untouchable."
Bane was so easy to love. He had done quite a lot bad things, he was addicted to pot and sold himself tk many women that were his "clients". But he was such a softie from inside. Despite his past, he turned out to be such a good man. Bane met Jesse way before his arrangement with Darren Moargensen and her noticed Jesse because of her Pushkin tattoo when he was on a beach with his friends. Bane was protection, loving, caring and brave and the way he was with Jesse made me swoon over him lol
