Out Behind the Barn by Chad Lutzke, John Boden

2.0

2.5 stars
I really wanted to love this horror novella contribution between Mr. Boden and Mr. Lutzke as I can't stop raving about Of Foster Home and Flies by Chad Lutzke.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I didn't connect with the main characters, two young boys. The tone of the story is almost robotic and the very short chapters contribute to this. This might very well be intentional given what the story is about, but it didn't quite work for me. I think if we got to "really" known the boys, it would have been different. Obviously the story resonated with many, so you should give this novella a try if you're curious about it - it's a very quick read.
