Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.
I do not get the hype, and I was shocked to find out this was a NYT best book of the year. I listened to the audiobook, which was a mistake since the book is made of disjointed vingettes. I thought the writing was bland. And although I appreciate that the author was poking fun at his younger self for being pretentious, he was still pretentious while writing this book. The inclusion of quotes from obscure philosophers did not help the matter.
I really wanted to get to the good stuff, because I was interested in the friendship and Ken, but I did not want to slog through another 50 pages before that happened.
