This is the cutest, and this is exactly what I want my SFF romance to be!
I’ve had a lot of feelings about romantasy and how it hasn’t done it for me, mainly because the fantasy elements tends to really take a back seat to the romance, and the romance usually is just trope-filled and unfulfilling.
But Winter’s Orbit has a ton of worldbuilding, intrigue, different cultures, and lots and lots of politicking. I adored both Keim and Jainan, and Jainan’s journey in particular was well realized, nuanced, and heartfelt.
If anything, I could have used more! I could have spent far more time with these characters and this world, and I’m happy to see that there’s a companion novel to dig into.
