Adultery by Paulo Coelho

4.0

I've only ever read one other book by Paolo Coelho, but I was very surprised to find that I enjoyed this book very much. It isn't like the usual YA and adult mystery novels I read and I like that.

The book is about Linda. A brilliant journalist, loving mother, and wonderful wife. Her life is a series of routines that has her thinking that she might be depressed. She decides to take a risk and live dangerously by having an affair with an old beau who just so happens to be a married politician. And soon Linda is caught between the decision to do what's right or to do what she desires.

This book explores concepts such as mid-life crisis, neurotic needs, and love. I thoroughly enjoyed the the author's style of writing and the message of the story.

I liked Linda's character but I would have liked to have known more about her husband and the other characters in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone willing to give it a try.

Perhaps I'll give another one of his works a go.
