Lore of the Wilds by Analeigh Sbrana

4.0

3.75 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed the setting of this book (who doesn't love a mysterious, enchanted library with magic books?). The MCs and side characters are likeable, and I enjoyed the theme of finding who you are and discovering lost secrets and buried knowledge.

My main issue was actually the writing, especially the repetition of some descriptions (such as the "blackberrries" smell of the MMC). Don't get me wrong, I love blackberries, I just don't need to be reminded 20 times that he smells of that fruit. I am also unsure of how I feel about the ending. It is quite the cliffhanger, which is great, but there are some potential implications of the details of that scene that I am unsure about, morality-wise. It's possible that the sequel will address this, so I will certainly be reading it.
