The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher by Hilary Mantel

3.0

Hilary Mantel is a literary sensation due to her back to back Man booker prizes for historical fiction novels around Thomas Cromwell. But most of the people haven't read anything beyond those books myself included. The assassination of Margaret Thatcher generated buzz when it was published due to the title & I recently got my hands on it. It's a collection of short stories which have different themes around disorders, male chauvinism, class differences, existential crisis and sometimes very mundane. The title story is deeply political though. All the stories have certain British wit to them & feel refreshing. It's a nice collection to read when need to read something light by a great contemporary writer. Overall 3. 5 stars and recommended.
