Evie works as an SAT tutor for the rich people's kids in LA. One sunday she arrives at the Victors' giant mansion to tutor Serena, but the teen doesn't seem to be home and her parents are brutally murdered. On her way out to call the police, Evie finds this tied up woman and suddenly things happen very fast. Just minutes later the two women are fleeing the scene as to not get arrested for a crime they did not commit. This is the start to Evie's trip across the USA, at her side a mysterious stranger who seems to have lost her voice.

The book had a very interesting premise and was a quite quick read for me. I liked the whole trip, as well as the way the relationship between the two women changed as trust built up. Towards the ending it was different than I expected and I was left in a weird emotional state (which is a good thing for a book to accomplish).
A few things bothered me: Some of Evie's decisions and assumptions I could not really relate to, they didn't seem to make sense. There were situatuons that seemed a bit constructed, for example: Screaming "Let me explain!" over and over, instead of just explaining (which could have been done in 1-2 sentences). Also, the media was portrayed somewhat unrealistic, constantly giving every detail about the search for the two women (an ongoing investigation). Finally, I had a murder suspect very early on - turns out I was right (usually I have no clue concerning the solution to a thriller or crime book). So maybe it just wasn't supposed to be a big surprise?

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the read. I liked the pacing. I liked that it was suspenseful with just a little bit sexual tension. I liked the ending.
A solid roadtrip story with a bit of murder, mystery and love.
