King of Greed by Ana Huang

❝ I broke her heart once, and I’d let her break my heart a thousand times in return if it meant that one day, she found her way back to me ❞

When I opened this book, I was extra cautious of what I'm getting myself into cause I've been actively collecting spoilers and going through less than 3 star reviews──expressing their great disappointment over this book──on my feed; but I was equal parts curious. What possibly could have gone wrong?

Ana's books always carried a hype I never quite understood, while her books were an easy and fun read, in a 'puts you in a good mood' kind of sense but it never had me ugly cry cause I was touched by a particular scene or had me floating in glee six feet above the ground; but a good time indeed. Her books did make me sigh and sulk (and feel more single than I already am) at the 'perfect within an inch' love interests who make their fictionality so apparent it hurts but not enough to make me put up more than 3 stars.
I was looking forward to this so much only because the topic of the book was unique enough to gaslight me into reading a second-chance romance. I'm not a fan of second-chance romances, by the way, still I wanted to see how it spins out. I even ditched the first two books for it, I just couldn't wait. By the time I was done with the book, I legit saw the invisible OKAY sign attached to the cover.
