American Gods by Neil Gaiman
5.0
“I believe that life is a game, that life is a cruel joke, and that life is what happens when you're alive and that you might as well lie back and enjoy it.”
I started this book nearly a month ago, but, and I don't know why, stopped reading after about 150 pages. I think part of it was that the main characters name is Shadow...I don't know what made m pick it up again 2 weeks later but thank god I did.
This novel cannot be put into any genre or box. A little bit thriller, a little horror, a little sci-fi, a little fantasy. It's it's own genre really.
I really can't put into words just what this book is. It's completely thought-provoking, surprisingly moving, and obviously meticulously researched. It's one of those extremely rare novels that's both very readable yet will actually make you think, and question.
