*sigh*

The author did such a good job making me hate Arla in the original series, and I really couldn't get past it. I feel like there needed to be at least twice as much character development if St. Clare really wanted us to feel a different way about her.

Thoughts on the novellas as a whole: each book was progressively shorter, and I can't help but wonder if that's because St. Clare was burnt out with the series. It was like watching the 16th season of a TV show that really should have been put out of its misery three seasons ago. Don't get me wrong, the writing was good. But you can just tell that she wasn't feeling inspired. All for novellas had the same basic storyline: complicated male finds the love of his life and immediately marries her. There wasn't any real depth to them. The only one that I really got anything out of was Rhone - it at least broke the mold a little bit and gave some much desired insight into the character.
