This Thing Between Us
by Gus Moreno
That was some horror of cosmic porportions! You follow a man mourning his wife, while putting pieces of the past, present, and somewhere beyond into what quickly becomes a horrific and impossible reality.
I was HOOKED from the beginning. You are dropped into a story where a man is either grappling with insurmountable grief and having some kind of psychotic grief, OR is grappling with insurmountable grief and trying VERY HARD to make sense of being hunted while very much not being willing to believe it. And I LOVE THAT!! It was AWFUL!! Is he off his rocker or is he haunted?? YES! And there isn't an outcome I prefer, which was odd for me. I typically feel so horrible about the "they were just out of their minds" possibility in a story like this, but in this case it wouldn't not be better.
I'm going to be haunted by this book for a long time yet... in the best way.
