So Much Blue
by Percival Everett
A triptych that takes its time in paying off but does. The present moment and two episodes of the past --a protracted infidelity and an amateur rescue mission to war torn El Salvador--weave together here. Everett handles the balance expertly, enough so that as each scene shift approached I was both anxious to return to the pending story line and remiss to leave the one I was in.
