These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly

4.0

I'm torn between 3.5 and 4 stars on this book. It was a well written, easy to read book, but there was just something that still bothered me about it. Maybe it's the fact that the protagonist, Jo, is probably the most naïve book character I've ever seen. Yes, this book may be set in the 1890s, but come on! There's also the fact that the antagonist isn't the most threatening villain I've ever seen. However, the mystery and murder aspect is redeeming enough to make it a worthwhile read. The romance seems a little forced at times, but overall, I'd say that this book is worth reading.
