Smoke & Mirrors by Skye Jordan

4.0

Smoke & Mirrors was an enjoyable continuation of the Forged in Fire series. In this book, we get Logan and Isabel's story, which is friends to lovers with a small dash of second-chance and a bit of romantic suspense. The fire family was supportive as always, and there were even some fun pet cameos. What I loved most about the book was the progression of Logan and Isabel's relationship. Both heart-worn and unwilling to trust others easily, the ways in which they helped one another really cemented the friends to lovers aspect of the story. Isabel was a great character, and I adored her willingness to face every challenge head-on. Logan, for all his bluster, has a really deep emotional core, which is obvious in how he cares for others. I thought they were perfectly paired and hope they'll have more chances to appear on page as the series progresses.
