This was amazing! Dear Brian Doyle, I am sorry I treated you like just some guy standing there with a book at the Oregon Wild Arts Festival, as you are a genius and bringer of joy!
If you like novels that make you laugh and cry and look at life in new ways, this is for you. If you're from Oregon or want to know more about Oregon, this is a piece of truly incredible Northwest literature.
It's about people and places and families and children and good things and bad things and plants and mountains and birds and how nature speaks to us, and it's about dark and light and art and medicine and science and magic, and love and friendship and philosophy and spirit and spirituality and laughter and tears. It's probably about a few more things that I've left out.
I wanted to quote it to everyone I knew as I was reading it, but didn't out of fear that not everyone would find it as amazing as I did. I want to share it with everyone - but on the other hand, I want to keep it inside my head and heart and not let anyone tell me it's anything other than incredible! I want to read it again - but have about 25 books I just got for Christmas, so I may have to wait!
