Co-wives, Co-widows is a book, that tells the story of two women, who lose their husband and immediately get accused of killing him by a jealous cousin. Which starts a conflict filled with violence and a court case. I liked Ndongo Passy as the main character of this book. She’s clever and strong willed. This story puts a focus on the unfair treatment of women and corrupt politics, but also the importance of the community, love and support. I was rooting for these women and I was glad to see them get their life back.
The writing is simple and clear, but without elaborate details - which fits this story. The author knows what she wants to say and how to get her point across.I enjoyed this for what it was. A story about two women losing their husband and finding their place in the world again.
