Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver
4.0
So obsessed with this book! I’m in LOVE! I’ve only read the Rose Hill series by Silver, which means this is my second book by her. I loved Wild Love and rated it a 4, but mostly around the 3.5–3.75 star range. Wild Eyes definitely falls closer to the 4.25–4.5 star side, haha!
Elsie Silver delivers another heartfelt romance with *Wild Eyes*, a beautiful addition to her collection of small-town love stories. This novel swept me off my feet with its blend of raw emotion, vulnerable characters, found family, and deeply satisfying romance.
Skylar, the protagonist, is a beautifully layered character. Her journey in *Wild Eyes* is a poignant exploration of vulnerability, resilience, and the rediscovery of trust and love. As a public figure, her life has been shaped by relentless scrutiny, judgment, and a loss of autonomy—a theme that resonates deeply in today’s world of invasive media and speculation. Skylar’s raw emotional arc is beautifully captured. She decides to step into Rose Hill—a place so far removed from the glamorous yet suffocating world she’s used to. Despite all she’s endured, she wears her heart on her sleeve, a vulnerability that makes her both brave and endearing. Having read *The Woman in Me* by Britney Spears last year, Skylar’s story struck especially close to home.
Weston Belmont, on the other hand, is the quintessential gentleman. His quiet strength, patience, and love for his children shine throughout the book. The single-dad trope is surprisingly becoming one of my favorites, all because of this series, and I LOVE IT! The relationship between Skylar and West’s children—particularly her sweet bond with Ollie—is one of the most touching aspects of the story. Watching Skylar find her place within West's family was heartwarming and truly embodies the essence of what it means to create a "found family."
The romance between Skylar and West is both tender and intense. Their moments of vulnerability and openness lay the foundation for a deeply emotional connection that feels truly earned. The balance of heartbreak, healing, and hope makes their love story unforgettable.
Silver’s small-town settings are nothing short of magical, and *Wild Eyes* carries a tinge of *Notting Hill* charm, with the blending of Skylar’s high-profile life and Weston’s grounded world.
