Space opera where everyone talks like they’re from the Regency era, except for when they talk like they’re from 1920s New York, which is slightly confusing. I was drawn in by the accidentally partners, will-they-won’t-they romance angle, but found the eventual payoff a little underwhelming. The rest of the plot was fun, not too predictable, and the world-building was pretty engaging but that’s probably because I don’t care that much about the “sci” part of sci-fi, and prefer the “long descriptions of the diplomatic customs of alien races” aspect. Overall, a fun way to spend a few hours.
