For me, this book is more about the world than the actual characters, which is why I didn't give this a higher rating. They all felt a bit bland and flat; I didn't really connect with any of them. The plot has a lot of good twists and turns, so it is an entertaining read. Mild spoiler/content warning

there is some very gnarly death in this book, which I was not at all expecting
