Shadow of the Vampire by Meagan Hatfield

4.0

Alexia is a vampire, well, she is actually the vampire princess of a matriarchal vampire society. Her mother’s reign is coming to an end and the time for her ascension is fast approaching when she captures a Dragon Lord who has just stolen a precious artifact from her people.

Declan is a Dragon Lord that has just become King of his clan after his mother and father were captured and killed by their enemies, the vampires. He and his sister go on a suicide mission to recover a powerful old artifact that in the hands of the vamps can mean the end of the Dragons.

I could say this is the old Romeo & Juliet story, even because Declan’s sister, Tallon, says so in the novel, but I don’t really remember reading about vamps and dragons on Shakespeare’s story. Nor do I remember Juliet being do kick-ass for that matter, and to be quite honest I much rather read about this modern version of the old tale.

Declan and Alexia’s attraction is immediate and irresistible, even on the filthy floor of the vampire horde’s dungeon. They simply can’t keep their hands from each other, every time they get together try to burn up the pages and even though I found myself trying to skip ahead a bit in the smexing scenes, because I found them to be a little bit too wordy, I did enjoy how each encounter just made their attraction and the fact that were meant to be clearer.

There is a lot going on in this story, betrayals, mysteries, a lot of action, a lot of romancing, smexing and I found myself not being able to put down this book and go to sleep. i just wanted to keep going and find out where Megan was taking us with this story.

I really don’t want to give you guys any spoilers but toward the end there is so much left open that I just hope Megan Hatfield has planned this be a series and has more books in works, because I can’t help to want more.

Shadow of the Vampire is a great Paranormal Romance read full of action and I totally recommend to any fan of the genre out there.
